All about holograms for smartphones

The holographic pyramid for smartphone or hologram projector for smartphone is an accessory allowing to make an image diffused on the screen of a phone over it.

Ideal for presenting New Year's greetings in an original way, a product or for an event, it is the high-tech goodies that will create the difference and the Wow effect of the moment. Inexpensive, it can be offered as a welcome gift at a reception or on a stand at a trade show, sent as an invitation or to serve as a bias for the announcement of an event.

The use is very simple, the small pyramid is delivered in a pouch containing the pyramid itself folded, a suction cup to fix it on the phone screen and a small microfiber cloth to clean it. To use the hologram pyramid for smartphone you just have to take it out of its pocket, unfold it carefully to make it adopt its pyramidal shape, remove the protective films inside and outside (do not forget this step otherwise the result will be blurred) clean a little the inner and outer walls of the pyramid and here it is ready to use.

You must then open on your smartphone a video specially designed to work with the pyramid, i.e. whose content is divided into 4. Here is an example found on youtube with different objects optimized for the pyramid

It is of course possible to create your own content and put it online if you are familiar with video creation software such as Adobe Premiere for example. If not, you can hire a professional studio to do the work for you. At Holopix we offer this service.

Then place the suction cup in the center of the video and adjust the pyramid on the suction cup so that the edges are parallel to the edges of the phone, and that's it, the magic happens, you will see appearing in the center of the pyramid the image or the object broadcasted in the video with the impression that it floats in the air above the screen like a real hologram and this whatever the side from which you look at it.

The operating principle is also very simple, it is derived from the Pepper ghost technique (created by Henri Pepper in 1895) and uses a reflection system. The image emitted by the smartphone screen is reflected on the walls of the pyramid, and the inclination of these walls gives the impression that the image is shifted behind the walls and vertical. Thus, we really have the impression that it appears in the center of the pyramid, while obviously if we look over it we see nothing. Although the effect uses a basic and already very tested technique, the result is still amazing and is sure to cause a sensation. (read the article dedicated to this subject for more info)

It is possible to personalize the hologram pyramid for smartphone by engraving a logo on one of its walls which can be very useful when it is used as promotional goodies to remind the user from whom this nice accessory comes.

It is also possible to personalize the sleeve that contains the pyramid for an even greater impact.

The personalization of the sleeve will also offer another important interest which is to be able to communicate on the address of the video to use with the pyramid. If it is a promotional goodie, it is obviously necessary to have a video related to the use of the pyramid. The best is to put this video online on a hosting platform like youtube and to associate a QR code which can be reproduced on the pyramid cover. Thus, the recipient of the goodies will just have to follow the instructions written on the cover, scan the QR code and he will directly access the video to be seen through the holographic pyramid. We are of course able to take care of the uploading of your video and the creation of the related QR code.

Finally it should be noted that there are other forms of holographic pyramid for smartphone or even for tablet that will go more towards a finished product rather than a goodies. Here is an example in photo

Here the object is in plastic and more rigid than the pyramids alone. The principle is exactly the same but the smartphone or the tablet is placed above the "holographic projector" and the image always appears in the center of the pyramid but this time it is reversed compared to the previous concept.
